Kakashi Newsprint Tutorial

Welcome to my second tutorial on the graphix blog site.
Recources:
Render

Step 1. Okay, start out by opening up a new white image. I am using 360x120. Open as layer's your render and duplicate the layer 4 times. Now on each layer except the top one use the vines brush with 1.0 spacing setting (you can change rate setting if you would like) to smudge the layer. You should have something like this.

Step 2.
We are going to hide our render layer now, and copy visible/paste in new layer.

Step 3.
Now on the copy visible layer we are going to iwarp it, and set the layer mode to lighten only. Erase where it looks ugly/bad.

Step 4.
Now copy visible and paste in new layer again. Run the dilate filter, and then run the newsprint filter. Set to lighten only at 12% opacity.

Step 5.
Copy visible and paste in a new layer. Now run an oilify filter with the exponent map being the newsprint layer. Set exponent to 20. Leave other settings on defualt. Set the layer mode to darken only.

Step 6.
Copy visible and paste into new layer again (sorry bout that) and run an apply canvis filter with settings on 1. Layer mode to lighten only at 90% opacity.

Step 7.
Yes. You predicted right, copy visible and paste in new layer. Now displace the x displacement by your newsprint layer, and the y displacement by your newest copy visible layer. Run the displacement on smear. Layer mode to lighten only 70% opacity.

Step 8.
Copy visible/paste in new layer, run the unsharp mask filter on it. Default settings. Now set the layer mode to hue at 75%.

Step 9.
Make a new layer and draw some vines using the vines brush like this:

Step 10.
Now displace them by the newsprint layer, and set the layer mode to difference at 13% opacity.

Well thats enough for the background, let's start part 2.

Step 11.
Unhide your render. Now sharpen it by 15. You should have this.

Step 12.
Duplicate your render layer, and run the laplace filter, set on overlay to 20%.

Step 13.
On a new layer, color in some black dots. Like this:

Step 14.
Hide this layer, copy visible and paste in new layer, and then displace it by the circles layer.

Step 15.
Repeat step 13 like this:

Step 16.
Now do a clip masking with this layer by, going to layer transparency, alpha to selection, and then select invert, hide the layer, make a copy visible layer, and cut that. Now move it around. Like this:

Step 17.
Now just add a border and you are done.

Welcome.

Welcome to my blog, It's brand new, but i will be posting tutorials, tips, tricks, brushes, and everything you can think of in it. Most of you know me as colors/colorful. But my new name posted is Sailboat. I will be posting my new tutorial soon. I like music, a lot. I like eminem, silverstein, 50 cent, gorillaz, REM, modest mouse, and a lot more. I like every genre of music too (not country!)

Warrock Signature Tutorial

Hello, and welcome to the first tutorial on my blog. Here it goes.
Recources:
C4d
Render
Abstract brushes
Leaf brushes
Grunge brushes
Note: The brushes I linked to aren't the ones i used, because they were from a while back and have been deleted. I may upload them sometime though.

Step 1.
Open your render in a new layer. Keep it unscaled, and smudge it with the vines brush on 1.0 spacing, and other settings all kept at default. You should have something like this:

Step 2.
Now reopen your render in a new layer and you should have something like this.

Step 3.
Next make a new layer, and take some leaf brushes from deviant art, and brush in white around the sides of the image, surrounding the focal Layer mode should be at normal, 80% opacity. You should have something like this.

Step 4. (optional)
Next I took some abstract brushes from deviant art and did the same thing as step 3 with them on a new layer, i set the layer mode to overlay 100% opacity. Just to add effect.

Step 5.
Copy visible and paste in new layer. Smudge with the leaf brushes. Set the layer mode to soft light, erase over the focal. This should enhance the quality and color of the background.

Step 6.
I just used some grunge brushes around the focal like before.

Step 7.
Now take any brush, I am using the default Diagonal Star (25) brush for this. Open a new layer and brush them in around the focal (in any color). Now go to Layers->transparency->alpha to selection. Hide the brushing layer, and copy visible/paste in new layer. Go to select->Invert, and cut the selection. Now use your navigation tool to move the layer around. You should end up with something like this:

Next I scaled the leaf brushes to 3.43 and drew a few times in black around the focal. I hid this layer, and copy visible/pasted in new layer. Displaced the copy visible layer by the new leaf layer, set the layer to darken only 100% and erased over the focal.

Next I did gradient map, copy visible and paste into new layer duplicate twice. on the top one do a black to white grad map set on color at 52% opacity.
Then I did a german flag smooth one to color 20%
Finally i made a new layer, filled it with green, and set to color at 10%.

Then I just added a border.
And you're done :)

Then I did a purple to orange gradient map. 16% color.
